3 Things I'm Loving Right Now
Apple TV: We got it for Ted Lasso (currently bingeing Season 2) and it definitely lives up to the hype! It also has so many examples of leadership and good (and bad) communication. I am also watching We Crashed about WeWork and it's soooo good! Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway are incredible together. After working at a start-up back in 2017 (and thinking that was the answer to my career woes way back in 2013 ha!), I'm just so loving all of the issues laid bare with incredible story telling. (Stay tuned for more posts on my career woes & working at a start-up because I have Thoughts!)
Brag Better: Master the Art of Self-Promotion by Meredith Fineman: We’re reading this for April in our low key creative Book Club my friend & fellow Coach Kate runs and I already love it only a few pages in. (I thought I was behind because it was the March book and then I realized a few days ago that we said April, so I’m right on time! 🤦🏻♀️🤣) I’m really interested in the topic since I’ve been holding back on sharing myself here, on social media, in my business in general, etc. I eventually got a little better at self-promotion in that past couple years in my career, especially since most of my interviews have been for part-time jobs. I know that this piece is keeping me from helping clients and making money and I think this book is going to really help me move forward with this. I can’t wait for our April Zoom call to discuss!
Settling in & Mini Renovations in our new home! We bought our house in September from my in-laws after living together since January 2021. We have a split level so we prioritized the downstairs (living room, dining room & kitchen) when we first did some work in the fall. Everything was move-in ready & the kitchen was just renovated in 2019, so it was mostly just clearing stuff out and finding the furniture we wanted. We just added some beautiful chairs by the gas fireplace so now it feels completely done and just amazing!
We took a break for November & December and then started tackling the bedrooms in mid-January. We did the Master bedroom first and I LOVE how it came out! We picked a gray for 3 of the walls we’ll use for all the rooms and then are doing 1 accent wall in each room. We did a deep purple in the bedroom and dark gray furniture, curtains, etc. We also pulled out the original shelves & rails of the walk-in closet and painted the back wall with the purple accent too. We customized the inside with the Boaxel closet systems from Ikea (one of my favorite places in the world!), some corner shelves, and the newer stainless steel 3M hooks for accessories. I love how it came out and am really trying to make sure I’m hanging up my clothes and not leaving them in a pile, stay tuned to see how it goes. But my absolute favorite favorite part of our room is the little sitting area between the closet and master bathroom. We got a cute round table from Ikea and I had been thinking I wanted a yellow chair there to pop. I found the perfect yellow chair at Home Goods a few weeks ago! I’ve been really enjoying shopping at Home Goods for little things here and there. I don’t usually do that kind of shopping, I’m a list person. But this has been fun, to be on a mission and that feeling when I find The thing that will complete a room or make an area more homey! I have been spending a lot of time in my new favorite yellow chair journaling. I added my new rose pen and my essential oil diffuser and I’m consciously working on not piling clothes on top of it so it’s always ready to relax in. We did Daniel’s bedroom over February break and it came out awesome!
We’re currently updating the guest room, my in laws will be coming up for a visit for Daniel’s 7th (OMG!) birthday next month (OMG again!) so we’re hoping to get it done before Spring break. We just decided on a mint green for the accent wall so I’ve been hitting up Home Goods again for bedding and accent pieces. The tail end of Spring break and the rest of April will likely be time for my office! I’ve already got all my furniture and lots and lots of art & fun decor things. We recently took the doors off my closet and repurposed the curtain my husband made for me when I shared my in laws office on there and it feels so much more open. I’m looking forward to a fun pink accent wall and built-in dry erase board and cork board.
These are just a few things bringing me joy right now and it’s been really nice to focus on them instead of the 900 other things I could be focusing on. What’s bringing you joy right now?
